Right now a toy has taken the entire world by storm, with both kids and adults going crazy over it. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last month or so, you must have heard about fidget spinner. So, what exactly are these toys and why are they proving to be so popular with people of all ages? Here is everything you need to know about the latest craze.

What Are They?

Fidget spinners are a handheld device that consists of a central bearing held in-between the index finger and thumb. It consists of three rotational blades extending in a way that they spin around the central bearing when you flick the blades with your spare hand. It then continues to spin, and people often attempt various tricks and stunts, such as balancing on different fingers or stacking them on top of one another.

What is the Point?

These spinners are designed as a stress-relieving toy and are supposed to help those who have trouble focusing, as well as those who suffer from anxiety, autism and ADHD. In addition to this, it is also very satisfying and fun to spin and play in classrooms or office premises.

Where have they come from?

This toy has exploded in popularity within the last few months, and it is currently the best-selling toy around the world. Although it is only recently that they have caught the attention of the masses, they got invented in 1993 by a chemical engineer. Despite getting her toy patented, it was rejected by Hasbro, and the license lapsed in 2005. The toy in its form we know it as today was again invented in 2014 by Scott McCosker and was soon being mass produced. In December 2016, the toy became the “must-have office toy for 2017”, and soon after this, they started to appear everywhere.

How do I Choose a Good One?

Like all types of toys, there are both good and bad versions available. A fidget spinner with good bearings in the centre performs well and lasts for longer durations. Ceramic hybrid centre bearings are the best, while aluminium alloy metal spinners provide great speed, a long spin and they are also very quiet making them ideal for classrooms.

This is everything that you need to know about fidget spinners who have made the world go crazy.
